Week 7: Challenges to Sustainable Development

The summary of what I learned in this week's class is about the limits of having a good environment to achieve Sustainable Development environment.

Why must there be a need for Sustainable Development?
because:
  • overexploitation of natural resources
          - more than 60% of the world's marine fisheries are declining.
          - to sustain resources for future generations.
  • climate change
          - increase in atmospheric temperature and extreme weather events.
          - from current human activities and unchanged habits will greatly impact the next generation.
  • scarcity resources
          - Food production needs to double over the next 40 years.
          - due to many agricultural lands being degraded for project development
          - our next generation may suffer a scarcity of resources, especially in agriculture.
